Imagine your classic space-shooter game, but in virtual reality. For Alex Fedkovits, creating an immersive version of Galaga is just one of the ways our new Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer spends his time when he’s not developing our software.
Alex has a background in machine learning dating back to 2003 when he was a student for our CEO Dr. Ari Gross at Queens College. Alex eventually went on to get a Master’s in Computer Science and cut his teeth professionally as a teacher’s assistant for Dr. Gross. During his time at Queens, he was President of the Association for Computing Machinery in Queens.
Alex will draw on his experience in the classroom to be one of SoftWorks AI’s lead engineers, and help Trapeze increase its artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities. His expertise will help further development in mortgage and tax automation.
“I feel very privileged to bring my expertise in cutting edge technologies to mortgage and tax industries. I look forward to helping companies automate many of today’s tedious and manual processes,” Alex said.
At CVISION, he helped develop their OCR technology used for PDF compression.
After first serving in a consulting role for SoftWorks AI, Alex was promoted to a full-time role to focus on practical machine learning applications within tax and mortgage. Alex will draw upon his experience at CVISION to develop solutions for complex business problems such as sales tax audit, mortgage insurance, mortgage servicing, and underwriting.
“Machine learning is on the cutting edge and is still unknown to a certain degree. It solves a lot of problems that are difficult and interesting, which is what attracted me to this role,” Alex said.
Alex possesses a natural interest in building. When he isn’t working on our machine learning capabilities or creating video games, his other hobbies delve into DIY projects.
Alex is in the process of building an indoor greenhouse in hopes of eventually being able to grow his own food. So far he’s growing plants such as cacti, succulents, and tomatoes using custom built LED light panels. Alex believes his technical and gardening ability go together. He hopes to bring a similar focus in growing SoftWorks AI’s vision in developing our machine learning applications.
We can’t wait to see what Alex builds for us here. Welcome to the team, Alex!
